2026 Midterm Analysis Status
Where every Actual Vote analysis stands, from the first video to the published report. Updated as we work.
Recording is underway. The first numbers will appear here after Election Day.
Nothing to report yet
As videos come in, this page will show how many we've received from each state and county, how many we've transcribed, when each county certifies, whether we have its official results, and where each comparison stands. We'll update it as we work.

How each analysis moves
Every county with videos goes through the same steps. Once the numbers start, we'll count how many counties are at each one.
- 1 Transcribing Reading the tapes in each video and spot-checking every reading.
- 2 Waiting on official results Tapes are read. We need the county's precinct- or tabulator-level results to compare.
- 3 Comparing Matching every transcribed value against the official results.
- 4 Checking non-matches Looking for the reason behind each initial non-match, including asking the elections office.
- 5 Writing the report The comparison is done and the report is being written and reviewed.
- 6 Report published The report is live.

What these terms mean
- Transcribable
- A video where at least one poll tape can be read. Some videos are too blurry, too short, or show something other than a tape.
- Transcribed
- The software has read the tape, and a person has spot-checked every reading against the video.
- Certification
- The legal deadline for the county to finalize its results. Many counties post precinct-level results only around this date, so most comparisons can't start before it.
- Official results in hand
- We have the county's results at the level the tapes print them (by precinct, voting site or tabulator). Sometimes that takes a records request.
- Checking non-matches
- An initial non-match isn't a finding. We look for the reason, including checking our own work, and ask the elections office when we can't find one.
